Spiritual Diary Quote
for September 5:

Those who do not give time to their religion cannot expect to know all at once about God and the hereafter. Usually people don’t make the effort, or if they do, the effort is not deep and sincere enough. Nighttime should be spent with God. You sleep more than necessary, and thus waste many valuable hours. Night was meant to screen all the attractions of the world, that you might the more intently explore the kingdom of God.
-Paramahansa Yogananda, Man’s Eternal Quest

Welcome to the Boston Meditation Group of Self-Realization Fellowship.
This Meditation Group is composed of devoted members and friends of Self-Realization Fellowship, a worldwide nonprofit organization with international headquarters in Los Angeles, California.

Self-Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda for the purpose of disseminating Kriya Yoga, a definite scientific technique for attaining direct personal experience of God. Through its worldwide service and teachings, Self-Realization Fellowship seeks to awaken greater understanding of the harmony underlying all true religions, and a fuller expression in this world of the love that unites all people when they realize their oneness in God.

Central to Paramahansa Yogananda's teachings are scientific techniques of concentration and meditation that lead to the direct personal experience of God. These yoga methods quiet body and mind, and make it possible to withdraw one's energy and attention from the usual turbulence of thoughts, emotions, and sensory perceptions. In the clarity of that inner stillness, one comes to experience a deepening interior peace and awareness of God's presence.

Instruction in the practice of the techniques taught by Paramahansa Yogananda is presented in the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons, a comprehensive home-study series compiled from his lectures and writings. Covering a wide range of topics, the Lessons offer his inspiring and practical guidance for achieving balanced physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

As an introduction, we suggest that you read Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. Copies of this spiritual classic are available in bookstores all over the world.
